The Art Gallery at Isny Castle
The Art Gallery at Isny Castle
|
The former Benedictine monastery in the heart of Isny im Allgäu was founded in 1096. But the baroque castle, the so-called “New Building”, which was built by Michael Beer in 1656, has also been a witness to over 350 of history. It is within these time-honoured walls that the art gallery is located. Visitors to the gallery enter an atmosphere unparalleled in its beauty and elegance, a place where the art on display makes visitors forget all sense of time and space. With the first steps taken across the beautifully restored floor, a world of history, tradition and art opens up, that will leave any art lover spellbound. |
The Isny Castle Gallery is not simply a means to an end. Rather, it is a carefully, lovingly designed space which reflects the creative moments of the paintings, illustrations, sculptures and art objects displayed within, resulting in a Gesamtkunstwerk. The gallery is thus the Opus eximium of the creative work of Friedrich Hechelmann, who, since 1998, has heavily influenced and guided the transformation of the building from its former existence as a geriatric clinic and residence. Enjoy a special moment – visit the Isny Castle Gallery and experience art at the highest level. |
